Our History
The Beginning
For 40 years, Farmer Village has been established as a leader in agriculture and farming, and has a rich and proud history. Our mission, “to become one stop centre for agriculture” began with the opening of our farm, in 1963 in Pahang. The first farm, which was 50 acres which mainly focus on Durian Farm, as it opened, soon built up an enviable reputation for agriculture excellence, and instantly became a historic landmark – a status it still holds today.
Over the next forty years the Farmer Village has expanded the agriculture business in Asia and now expanding the business in creating a Nature retreat inspired by farming that offering comfortable and well-appointed accommodation, exceptional facilities and some of the finest restaurants in the region. This was underpinned by impeccable service inspired by our Asian heritage, which made Farmer Village the retreat place for family and friends who are looking for quick getaway from the busy city
The Founder
Dato Ng Thiam Lai, who started his own business in 1989, has begun investing in real estate development projects and construction. Although he did not have high education qualification, Dato Ng Thiam Lai has always been very committed to expanding his business with his principles. In addition, Dato Ng Thiam Lai enthusiastically returned to social activities and contributed money and efforts to guilds, schools & religious associations. Dato Ng Thiam Lai also became the Chairman of the Wong Clan Federation of Malaysia from 1996 to 2004 and is currently the advisor of the Wong Clan Federation. he works with his clan members to promote kinship. The accumulated achievements in giving back to society and enterprises over the years, he was successfully awarded the title of D.S.S.A Dato on the 71st birthday of His Highness the Sultan of Selangor on March 8, 1997.
Dato Ng entered society at the age of 13, has accumulated nearly 50 years of experience today. He has stood up in the face of countless setbacks and kept his word. The spirit of gratitude has made him stronger and more positive. Today, he enjoys his retirement life and take his family and friends to jointly promote the spirit of “love in the present, be grateful for culture, and build a more harmonious society”.
